Project Details – STC and new business model ENablement
Part 145 Repair Station and STC Holder
United States, Florida
General Aviation
Challenge
A Part 145 repair station had an approved STC to address a well-known industry problem of corrosion on the HTF700 thrust reverser. This STC replaces the aluminum inner skin of the thrust reverser with titanium. The challenge for this company was that the STC could not be affordably warrantied due to 4 OEM seals with a total cost of almost $70,000. Also, the availability of these seals was often a problem causing uncertainty in the TAT for the STC implementation.
Solution
Peloton Aerospace reverse engineered the seals, worked with a top tier supplier, with OEM experience in thrust reverse seals, to fabricated them and worked with the repair station to have them approved as part of their STC.
Results
Peloton sourced alternate manufacturing solutions through its network of certified suppliers.
- Fully documented FAA-compliant solution
- 90% reduction in the cost of seals
- Enablement of a warrantied solution – backed by a Lloyd’s of London insurance policy
- Rapid growth in the adoption of our customers STC by the general aviation industry
- Customer had to dramatically expand their footprint to support the growth in demand for the implementation of their STC
