Project Details – Regional Carrier Availability and Lead Times

Challenge

A large U.S. Regional Carrier maintains a fleet of both newer E-series aircraft as well as older CRJs.  As the CRJ fleet continues to age and many beginning their required D-check heavy maintenance, the customer was having increasing difficulty sourcing parts for their CRJ fleet.  Often OEM parts were unavailable or had lead times of more than 36 weeks creating havoc in their ability to manage their fleet and their supply chain.

Solution

Together with Peloton Aerospace, we deployed advanced analytics to identify the problem parts as well as parts expected to become problems soon.  65 repair parts were identified as critical to driving cost and uncertainty in the supply chain, including being the primary drivers of turn-around times in their heavy checks.  Peloton Aerospace developed a fabrication program to reverse engineer these parts, source the parts and maintain inventory both at our customers heavy check facility and at our subsidiary Greer Aero.

Results

Our customers fabrication program dramatically improved their ability to prioritize efforts to optimize the management of their fleet and streamline their heavy check process
